Collecting LEGO sets and minifigures should be about knowing what you are buying. This guide explains authenticity, factory-sealed packaging, common box-condition terms, and what retired status does—and does not—tell you about price.

Authenticity: start with the source

Moore's Minifigures sources LEGO products through authorized resellers. This describes our sourcing, not a claim that our store is an authorized LEGO retailer.

When evaluating a collectible, consider the seller's sourcing information, the exact product description, and clear photos together. Packaging, printing, and markings can help you ask better questions, but no single visual detail is a foolproof counterfeit test. A sealed-looking box alone is not proof of authenticity. If something is unclear, ask the seller before purchasing rather than relying on a checklist or an unusually low price.

What factory sealed means

Unless the listing explicitly states otherwise, our items are brand new and factory sealed in their original packaging. Any open or used exception is disclosed in the product description.

Factory sealed describes the unopened packaging status. It does not, by itself, mean the outer box is cosmetically perfect. Read the individual listing for disclosed wear or damage, especially if you plan to display the box.

A plain-language box-condition vocabulary

These terms describe different aspects of packaging. They are not a numerical grade or third-party certification.

  • Shelf wear: Surface rubbing, light scuffing, or edge wear on the outer packaging.
  • Corner wear: Wear concentrated at the corners, which may include rounding, rubbing, or compression.
  • Dent: An indentation or compressed area of the box.
  • Crease: A visible fold or line in the cardboard.
  • Scuff or scratch: A surface mark that may affect the printed finish.
  • Tear: A split in the cardboard or printed outer layer.
  • Seal condition: The state of the original closures, separate from the condition of the box surfaces.

At Moore's Minifigures, cosmetic wear, packaging damage, dents, shelf wear, and open or used status are disclosed in the product description when applicable. Review our Product Condition Policy for the store's published practices.

If pristine packaging matters to your collection, ask about the specific item's condition and request additional details or photos before ordering. Do not treat “sealed” as a substitute for a condition description.

Sealed minifigure boxes: read the exact listing

Check the listed series, quantity, packaging format, and condition disclosures. Do not assume that a sealed box guarantees a particular character assortment or complete set unless the listing explicitly says so. Explore our Sealed LEGO Minifigure Boxes collection and read each product's details before choosing.

What retired status means

A retired set is no longer in regular production. Retired does not mean that every remaining example is rare, that demand will stay strong, or that its price must rise.

Our prices reflect current supply, not promised future appreciation. Availability, collector demand, and condition can influence what buyers are willing to pay. Prices can rise, remain flat, or fall, and a listing price is not a guarantee of a future resale price.

Choose a set because it fits your collection and budget, not because you expect a guaranteed return. Factory-sealed status and careful storage do not guarantee appreciation.

Before you buy

Read the individual listing, distinguish seal status from cosmetic condition, check any disclosures, and ask questions about anything important to you. Our Product Condition Policy is the reference for how we present and disclose product condition.
